Homemade wedding

My sister is getting married in a few weeks and despite her best efforts at avoiding having anything homemade at the wedding, my Mum and I are managing to sneak the odd thing in. So this week while there was still some sunshine we got making and produced these string bauble things  by pva-ing sparkly yarn over balloons! I had to leave before the balloons got popped but apparently they turned out perfectly. I will post a pic of them in situ in a few weeks.

We also made, with the help of one of Kirstie Allsopp’s books, some flowers made out of ribbon to nestle in the fake bay trees. My Mum was worried about using real flowers because they might wilt and nice fake flowers are really expensive when you need about 25! They look great and even my sister was impressed!

My next job is her wedding ring which calls on my silversmithing evening class talents from many years ago! We’ll see how that goes…

Needless to say there hasn’t been much sewing going on this week even though I had given myself the hen night as the deadline for making my own wedding outfit. That’s on Friday. I have tacked half of the bodice pleats. That is all.
